Prior to his time at FC Aarau, Villiger gained experience as an assistant coach as well as talent manager at GC Zurich. He therefore already knows the club and understands the importance of youth development very well.
He is looking forward to the challenge: "I am happy to be back at GCZ. I already know the club and many of the players very well which makes me excited to drive forward the youth development. It is particularly important for me to use the existing coaching team to provide the best possible training conditions for the development of the players. They should feel comfortable at GC and be able to thrive and reach their full potential.»
President Matt Jackson adds: "We continue to make progress in building a solid foundation, and that includes our youth department. The decision to bring Romain on board is in line with the successful signing of Bruno and marks an important step forward for our academy.”
