Grasshopper Club Zürich continues to strengthen its squad ahead of the second half of the season with the signing of young central defender Tomás Ribeiro. The 22-year-old Portuguese from Lisbon has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract and joins GC from Belenenses SAD.
Ribeiro grew up in the youth academy of Portuguese first division club Belenenses SAD. For the first team, he played 72 games, contributing one goal and one assist and performed, among others, alongside Moreira and Santos. In the current season, the young defender captained his former team several times. At GC, the Portuguese will wear the number 14 shirt.
Technical Director Seyi Olofinjana said: "With Ribeiro we sign a young and dynamic central defender, who has already gained a lot of first team experience and will be comfortable within our systems of play. We are happy to be able to plan with him for the long term."
